Back Cover Copy (and other book ods and ends)

So it occurred to me that I haven't ever shared the back cover copy for The Forest of Hands and Teeth. In fact, it feels like I haven't talked about The Forest of Hands and Teeth in a bit. I am here to remedy that.

First, here is the back cover copy (this is what I have on the jacket proof which is different from what's on Amazon... I don't know which trumps but I'm assuming the dust jacket).

In Mary's world, there are simple truths.

The Sisterhood always knows best.

The Guardians will protect and serve.

The Unconsecrated will never relent.

And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village. The fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth.

But slowly, Mary's truths are failing her. She's learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power. And, when the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness.

Now she must choose between her village and her future, between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded by so much death?

Very exciting! Technically, that's on the inside flap of the dust jacket. On the back in a beautiful glossy red box (the image of the forest wraps around the spine and across the back as well) is a blurb from Melissa Marr (I can't remember if I shared it before so I'll share it now) that says:

Opening The Forest of Hands and Teeth is like cracking Pandora's box; a blur of darkness and a precious bit of hope pour out. This is a beautifully crafted, page-turning, powerful novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it!"
- Melissa Marr, bestselling author of Wicked Lovely and Ink Exchange.

Thanks Melissa!!! Also exciting is that FHT is up for pre-order (or at least listed) in a few places!
Amazon
Barnes & Noble (not for pre-order yet)
Target

The book also got a shout out on A Fuse #8 Production! And hopefully, I'll be able to share some other fun news soon as well!

I have to admit, it's been very cool and surreal to see mentions of FHT popping up on the internet. I mean, for so long, the only people who have known anything about it are somehow connected with me -- message boards, LJ, related, etc. But to see random mentions... it's like, wow, this book is out there now and totally out of my hands. I get little bursts of joy when I see it mentioned and actually seeing someone like it is really an amazing feeling.

In other news, I bought a new toy for our house: an Apple Time Capsule. This sucker is a router, a print server, and a 500G hard drive. We named it Tardis. It only took a little wrestling to get it installed. For real, the sticking point is that rather than unplugging the cable modem for 30 full seconds when I was installing everything, I unplugged it for 25 seconds. Picky little sucker. But now we have all sorts of back-up for our computers! Yay!
