Anyone have any questions? Time to update my FAQ

I've realized that my FAQ page on my website is woefully out of date.  I decided to toss it out to y'all to see if you have any questions you'd like me to answer -- feel free to ask anything and I'll answer all that I can and upload to my website (you can ask about me, my books, the world in The Forest of Hands and Teeth, writing, etc).  Come on... I know y'all have questions :)  Post away!

Thanks!

Will you share with us who the main character for book 3 is? I want to say Gabry, but who knows.

And I just realized you're from SC. You managed to free yourself, but I'm still here. Any chance of touring around here sometime soon? I wouldn't dare ask you to come where I live because it sucks too much, but Columbia or someplace like that.

At first, I though Gabrielle from The Dead Tossed Waves was going to be the story of the girl who turned into a breaker during the first book. Since her story is shrouded in mystery. But, going by her mothers name, and history, it seems that is not the case.

Do you have any non-zombie novels planned?

Where did you come up with the names for your characters? Catcher is such a unique name but it fits him perfectly!

What made you have Travis die? He was so perfect for Mary.

I LOVE all of your books and I can't wait to see what happens between Gabry, Catcher and Elias!!!

could you post some spoilers / a short summary what The Dark and Hollow Places will be about?

are you going to reveal any more about how/why the return happened?

is there ever going to be a cure and/or a way to eliminate all the zombies?

and: your books are absolutely fabulous!!! :)

This isn't the most exciting question, but I managed to snag a hardback copy of FOREST while bookstores were phasing them out--and saw that the paperback has a completely different cover.

I love them both, but paperbacks usually have the same cover, and I was wondering if there was a reason for the change. Marketing?

In that same vein, I'd love to hear the little odds and ends about your adventures with publishers and agents on your way to publication!

I am an aspireing author and am darn close to finishing my first novel. Would you be able to read the first few chapters and give me some tips or your opinion on my writing?

I love your books and especially your writing style; you put so much emotion and descriptions into your work.

So my question is, can you tell me what the difference is between The Unconsecrated and Breakers? I know what they are but what makes them different from each other?

Breakers are so interesting; I just want to know how they get that way and what makes them so strong and smart compared to Unconsecrated?

Also, where did you get the whole idea of The Forest of Hands and Teeth/Dead Tossed Waves?? What inspired you want to write a book about zombies, and The Village, the seclusion, heartache and loss? Even though its devastating times for your characters you still bring hope and life into the story, you’re amazing!

I can’t wait for your third book, and hopefully many more because I am not done with this story!! It’s amazing and makes me want to live in Vista….well almost.

Hi Carrie!

You said you don't outline--how do you keep everything straight? Do you just have that kind of brain or do you use other things besides an outline?

You also said that with TFOHAT that it took you four months for that first draft and another four months of revision. How much of that first draft did you keep? What were some of the problem issues that you found and fixed in the revisions?

Hope it's not too late to ask a question! All I'd love to know is: will you be writing any more books after THE DARK AND HOLLOW PLACES? And will they be in the same world? Thanks! :)

I am in the process of writing my own book. I wondered when you initially had the idea for The Forest of Hands and Teeth, did you plan on a sequel? It seems to me to be a pretty stand alone book, and that's why I was surprised and impressed that you wrote a sequel, and not really about Mary anymore, but her daughter, Gabry. And then your third book will be a continuation of Gabry's story for the most part, I presume. I just wonder how your sequels evolved, what was the process? As for me, my story is pretty stand alone. My dad, who is a writer, keeps telling me that I need to make it a series. It's a YA-type story, and YA book series are all the rage these days. But I can't seem to justify continuing my main character's story. I can think of slight break-off story ideas, like a prequel or a story involving another character in the fantasy world I've created. What has been your experience and what is your advice? Many thanks!!!

BTW, I am 33 years old and absolutely LOVE your books. I think they are beautiful and fascinating. 75% of the time I forget there are even zombies moaning in the background of most scenes because of the beauty written into your stories. Thanks for sharing your world with me!

does Gabry and Elias ever find each other again?

I stumbled across 'The forest of hands and teeth' at the library and spent my entire day yesterday reading it. Such a great book! I'm not really a huge zombie fan, they scare me to death. (I think my husband had a hard time sleeping last night as I kept using my little book light to scan the dark shadowed corners of our room!)But I am a huge fan of the human strength and desire to survive. My question isn't about the main character, Mary, but I actually couldn't sleep because I was thinking about the three who stayed on the path. Did they survive?

My questions are:

Why didn't Mary ever tell Gabry about Travis?

Will we ever learn for certain what happened to Jed?

And after you're done with this Triliogy, will you ever write a book from an Unconsecrated's point of veiw?
